The City's Emergency Preparedness Program is dedicated to the service of our community before, during and after emergencies such as earthquakes, fires, floods, storms, hazardous material spills, terrorism, and other disasters. Additionally, the City Emergency Response Program provides:

Activation of the City's Emergency Operations Center at City Hall. Training employees on emergency response, including scheduling of drills, communications and contingency planning. Ensuring City facilities are equipped with emergency response supplies and equipment for the use of emergency workers. Should they be needed, one or more pre-identified meeting sites will be opened. Waiting for help to arrive could take hours or days depending on the magnitude of an incident, know 5 Life Saving Actions After a Disaster. 	Ready Response Campaign  The Ventura County Ready Response Campaign is working in an effort to get families prepared for emergencies. The following attachments are helpful tools to establish a plan for your family.

	Join Thousand Oaks CERT The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program of volunteers in your local area that focus on preparedness. Following a major disaster, first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be able to meet the demand for services typically rendered. The purpose of CERT is to meet immediate life saving, and life sustaining needs.
	Join Thousand Oaks DART The Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) is a group of trained citizen volunteers prepared to assist local government and publi safety agencies. DART is called upon by Police, Sheriff, and Fire Departments to assist in emergency and non-emergency situations. Classes are conducted at the Thousand Oaks Police Department. 	Radio Communication During an event of natural disaster and other emergency events, communications such as landline or cellular phones may not be available. The use of radio communicaion is essential. Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) is a unit of trained volunteers who supply communications assistance to the Conejo Valley and Ventura County, particularly in time of disaster. Their goal is to support the gathering and distribution of information necessary to respond to and recover from a disaster. Volunteers are primarily licensed Amateur Radio Operators.
