Wastewater Collection System

Wildwood Park Wastewater Collection Rehabilitation Project
August 2012 - December 2012

Cured in place piping (CIPP), a trenchless technology, will be used to perform the wastewater piping repairs along Lynn Road and in the Wildwod Park area. CIPP involves the relining of pipes using a polyester tube that inflates while inside of the existing tube. The tube then hardens and seals inside of the existing wastewater, creating a new pipe that will be used for decades. Approximately 2.5 miles of wastewater lines and 44 wastewater access holes in the Wildwood Park area will be rehabilitated as part of this project.

Lane Closures along Lynn Road

As part of the wastewater relining project, the following lane closures will be required along Lynn Road, between Janss Road and Avenida de Las Flores.

  • Northbound #1 Lane - Closed 24 hours per day from August 16 to September 16
  • Southbound #1 Lane - Closed during daytime off-peak hours from August 16 to September 16
  • Full road closure in both direction for one day. Date to be announced week of August 20.

Inspection of the City's 8,300 wastewater utility holes is performed annually to identify wastewater utility holes in need of repair. Wastewater utility holes requiring repair due to hydrogen sulfide corrosion and water or root infiltration. Lack of proper maintenance can lead to accidental sewage spills and pipe blockages. Through previous phases of the project, 190 wastewater utility holes have been rehabilitated in the last seven years.
