Purpose: An advisory body to the City Council relative to the measures and methods utilized to promote the general cultural development of the City. The duties of the Commission include exploring methods of obtaining funds to promote the arts; rendering assistance regarding artistic, aesthetic, and other cultural aspects of community life; and advising the City Council.

Eleven Commissioners (1 Commissioner with broad cultural interest and 10 Commissioners representing various arts and professions) serve 2 year, rotating terms. City residency is required of all Commissioners.

Meetings: Arts Commission meets quarterly in January, April, July and October on the second Thursday of the month.
