An Evening with Kris Kristofferson presented by Civic Arts Plaza Foundation
Sunday, September 26th, 2010 at 7:00 PM
Fred Kavli Theatre (Concerts)
Kris Kristofferson was the son of an Air Force Major-General, spending his youth moving around the country. This life in motion style has never left him, clocking over a million miles on his tour bus in the last 40 years. He wrote numerous 70's hits, including "Me and Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "For the Good Times," "Loving Her Was Easier" and "Why Me." Kris is also a sought-after concert performer, touring several months a year with his band.
His classic song "Sunday Morning Coming Down" won Country Music Song of the Year and he received the Songwriter of the Year Award. He has since been named to the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and has had his songs recorded by hundreds of major artists.
Kristofferson's 2009 album is entitled Closer to the Bone. The personal lyrics are a reflection of Kristofferson's epic journey. "I like the intimacy of the new album," he explains. "It has a general mood of reflecting on where we all are."
