| | | Arts CommissionThe Thousand Oaks Arts Commission was established in 1980 to act in an advisory capacity to the Thousand Oaks City Council to promote the City’s general cultural development. The Arts Commission, an 11-member board, meets regularly on the second Thursday of each month during September through July of each year. Committee meetings are scheduled as needed. The Arts Commission has made a significant contribution to the cultural climate of Thousand Oaks by such programs as: Excellence in the Arts, Youth Video Festival, Open Studio Tour, Annual Art & Photography Show, Shakespeare Education Tour, Percent for the Arts, Healing Power of Music, Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, Fred Kavli Theatre Visual Arts, cataloging records of the City’s permanent Art Collection, and the continuation to support and encourage the Arts in Education. As the City sustains growth and maturity, the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission will continue to implement and augment existing programs with sensitivity and anticipation of needs of the community, along with visions for the future. The Arts are transmitters of culture to future generations. The Arts of today will be tomorrow’s legacy.
