The Thousand Oaks Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) serves as an advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to the arts and cultural development in the City. The 11-member Commission meets in the Civic Arts Plaza Founders Room on the third Wednesday of each month from September through July of each year.
The CAC’s primary focus is on the programming and operation of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Fred Kavli Theatre and Janet & Ray Scherr Forum Theatre. The CAC also provides oversight of the annual Open Studio Tour, Art & Photography Show, Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, Fred Kavli Theatre Visual Arts, Percent for the Arts, and the cataloging of the City's permanent Art Collection.
In addition, the CAC administers grant programs for local artists and arts organizations including the Community Event Endowment Fund (CEEF) and the Performance Grants/Theatre Credits program. Click here for more information on these programs.
Contact to the CAC should be made through Barry McComb, Director of the City’s Cultural Affairs Department, at (805) 449-2707 or at bmccomb@toaks.org.
